    You don't look at the mantelpiece when you poke the fire.

    i have came across this sentence somewhere else,couldnt get the meaning of it,can you guys help me here?thanks!:)

    P/s:it that means an alert,a slag to people?or simply like just go ahead to do something without doubts?

    Well put it this way...

    If you look at the last line of the OP's sig "Enjoy the ride mate", then add, "but don't look up at my ugly mug" then you're getting close to the meaning.
