Nothing he can do, unless he has IP protection in place.

you mean that in a good way or bad way?

the originals are made out of plastic now, i heard the brass ones were causing damage to the fill valves on the mags, they're cheaper made out of plastic too, although i have one of the old metal ones and never noticed a problem with it

me too KD, i have the old metal 2 part jobby....you do need to be careful when positioning it...as far as i know the guy from airsoft innovations does have copyright protection...doesnt amount to a hill of beans in china i expect...or maybe he has allowed them copy it for a price...

Competition is the name of the game, we should be happy, this may drive prices down and we may get to have christmas this year.

Generally speaking Brass fitting on anything like this are considered far superior to plastic fittings. My brother works on high pressure gas and liquid systems and that would be his opinion anyway. That said, the plastic fitting can probably handle a higher pressure then the brass one, I know i'd feel more comfortable will the brass one, but thats just a feeling. As for damaging a fill valve, its hand to see how if used correctly.

I wonder if this is part of the reason AI started supplying silicon oil with their adapter - to add perceived value.

Well €10 is quite a bit better.

I wouldn't think there's much he can do to stop the Chinese making them (even if he has a copyright) what I don't understand is how all these clones of copyrighted material are allowed to be sold in shops and sites over here. Is it just that the law doesn't cover it or is it that it's overlooked by authorities.

Copyright law has varying levels of application. reverse engineering an item may no infringe on it, also it has to be of an international level.

It's vastly complicated (and that's a vastly mild understatement) ;)

It's answerable in a paragraph as in 500 pages. I don't have time/inclination for 500 pages, so I'll keep it short and sweet:
    * it is a territorial right so enforcement is by jurisdiction (=he'd have to sue in China... but read on)
    * no copyright vests in an object (unless it's an artistic object - and yes, there is a definition available: less than 50 made),
    * making the object according to the plans/design/whatever is not an infringement of copyright in the plans/design/whatever (but copying the plans/design/whatever is an infringement)

It goes horribly complicated from there on in.

I understand the guy is Canadian: for what it's worth, he couldn't stop another Canadian from making them and selling them either (unless he owns registered IP and/or design right exists under Canadian Law).

Putting aside the exceptional case of well-known brands (Gucci, Rolex etc.), which by now have specific legislation for them, as a result of which you see piles of seized fakes regularly crushed/burned/etc. to much media fanfare, it really is a mix of there not being any rights to enforce in the first place, and the rights owner(s) either not knowing and/or not wanting to do anything about it.

Just ordered the Bell adaptor off RSOV so I'll post what it's like when I get it

Hey lads, just an update with these adapters. They wont fit regular propane canisters. The neck is far to small, must be designed for the Asia market

I've read that these metal type adaptors can cause damage...The plastic version is more forgiving
