Just reminded with the delay of the news conference re Staunton last night, that there no TV news on RTE till 1 O'clock in the day... its bit ridiculous isn't it?

they had the champions league coverage on till 12:45 last night and they were reporting from the hotel on there but at 12:45 with no conference they didn't hang around to show it.

Well I suppose RTE would argue that if you want news in the morning you can listen to RTE radio (Morning Ireland).

Plus this isn't exactly a huge story that is going to affect people's lives. I remember on the night of September 11th, they showed CNN throughout the night.

Tend to agree, clearly RTE don't do mroning news as it would cost them some money but does anyone miss same? There's always SSN or TV3 brokenfast news.! :p

When there is a huge story, they'll have breaking news.

No TV news before 1 is fine with me...

But in fairness their newsroom doesn't provide TV bulletins before lunchtime while their live kids' shows start at around 7am. They should have some Irish news every hour from say 7 til 9. I know they have EuroNews but it's not the same. Apparently they were planning a TV version of Morning Ireland for January this year and then it was postponed until the new season (which began last month).

Otherwise they could display "Information Pages" like the ones on S4C~2 with audio from Radio 1 - it would beat repeats from the afternoon before!

Although I think it would be interesting to see a morning show on RTE, I doubt it will happen in the near future. With Morning Ireland providing a pretty impressive service, I don't see the point in a television show which will cover exactly the same material. Particularly with the internet, a morning show to a relatively small audience would serve as a waste of public money.
