I found myself in the position of having to open a thread about this. The practice of posting a reply and inserting coloured text within a quote has become more and more common and while it was tolerated Im afraid we will have to go back to basics. This practice, just like txt speak, is to be discouraged to put it mildly.

As I said in another thread it got to a stage where I didnt know who was posting what and this particular post was like a dogs breakfast - nothing personal VH - Im just using it as an example.

From now on I would ask you to post as normal and if you wish to reply quoting another user then simply do it in the normal way or you can use the multi quote if necessary.

OK Point taken. I'll try to avoid using coloured replies. :D

I normally try to edit the quote so that only the OP's comment and my coloured comment appear,
But point taken Muffler, multi-quote it is

Well it was smashey who mentioned that some users could be color blind or others may only have a black and white monitor so it would be most useful to them to have standard quotes with black text ;)

7 percent of us (including myself) are colour blind to a degree. If text and background aren't highly contrasted (black on white or white on black), then I have a very hard time trying to read it, and usually just don't bother. Blue on red or red on blue is the worst. The colours blend together and the lines of illegible text seem to undulate on the page.

I use the Cloud theme on boards (I'm sure plenty of others do too), and when a poster sets their font colour to black, their post disappears into the black background of this theme. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it can be very annoying.
