There's a video of Arnie giving a press conference about the fires in California. Am I the only one who still can't take him seriously as a politican? ;)

    Arnie is the king.

He overcame all sorts of set backs, such as a stupid accent, to get where he is today.

I'd say he'd be far less memorable without the stupid accent :D

Try the link in IE, it works best there. If you open it in Firefox, it tries to open the video in WMP which doesn't always work.

    Just googled that now! classic
Upon being found in a trailer with his face between some lady's legs, he turns round and says to the person who's caught him:

    "Eating is not cheating"

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the US Constitution States: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

His supporters are currently trying to move a bill through congress to amend (bork) this part of the constitution.

Crap and bollocks.Arnold's father was police chief NOT an SS officer,he never said he dreamed of being a dictator and he mentioned Hitler as being a leader, not somebody he admires.Nelson Mandella was a far worse criminal than Kurt Watlheim yet people campaigned for HIS release...

Looks like the site I linked got the SS membership wrong. He was in fact a member of the Nazi SA, Stormtroopers, (joined May '39) in which he became a ranked officer.

In '47 he joined the police.

    USA TODAY.com

I see Wiki only mentions the police role.

It doesnt matter what his father used to be in fairness. His father could have been a concentration camp guard and it doesnt mean he's want to emulate him.

Yeah I find it hard to take him seriously as a politician, watching that clip, I still expect him to say stuff like:
''I want your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle''
    ''I'll be back''
''Come with me if you want to live!''
    ''Stick around''

    :D

The Governator is probably the best California Governor since Reagan. His approval ratings are very high, especially considering he's associated with the minority party around these parts. (CA being heavily Democratic). Even staunch Democratic supporters like the Bay Area newspapers in the last election endorsed Arnie. The people I know who work with him also say good things.

He's made a few blunders, but has learned from them. He speaks his mind, plainly, and has not been caught saying one thing and doing another. I'm not happy about some of the anti-gun legislation he's signed, but he's not signed it all, he's something of a compromiser trying to balance both sides of the spectrum: He's also not a leading gay rights activist, for example, just to keep the left honest. He's also fairly good at public speaking, accent aside. He came down to visit us at Ft Irwin, and spoke without cue cards quite well.

Oh, and he used to be a tanker. That can't be bad.

Well, he's vetoed some as well. He's running at about 50-50. From my point of view, a definite improvement over likely alternatives or his predecessor who would have likely signed them all. He's actually vetoed quite a lot of legislation he doesn't like.
