    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy something off ebay and the seller wants payment by western union, is this safe? Most ebayers on .de do not accept paypal.
The seller has 100% feedback from 300+ people.

How do I go about sending money if it is legit?

    Thanks,
    Neil.

western union is the least safe way of paying a seller. never ever use it. post a link to the auction. The account could have been hijacked. legit sellers rarely, if ever, ask for western union.

Just to add, if they are a legit german seller they will accept bank transfer. Not my favourite payment method but much better than western union. Unless it is something you can only get from this seller look elsewhere on ebay.

Agreed, see if they will accept bank transfer. It is common enough for eBay sellers in Germany as they don't use Paypal very much.

Yay, it probably would be okay as not many people in Germany use Paypal.

I used ebay.de a lot when I lived in Germany, I still do use it and the majority of sellers only take bank transfers (Uberweisung) as the payment method. I have never come across a German wanting to do an ebay transaction using Western Union.
It may be legitimate but to me it doesn't sound right. I would be happier doing a bank transfer, ask for the BIK and IBAN numbers, if they don't want to give them then they might be trying to pull a fast one.
I am with AIB and can transfer the money for free with online banking but you will need to apply for a code card if you are with AIB.
