I am looking to buy myself a Manta in the near future. I am looking out for 1983 upwards preferably a gte/gt from around 85/86.

What i need help in is what i should watch out for when i am buying and how much would i be looking to spend on the likes of a good condition 85 gte with respectable mileage.

Also where can i find out about car shows that would have a nice few mantas as id like to get up close and personal so i can see what the standard is and also just drool over them :D:D:D:p

    Try the classic car forum.

I think there might be a better selection of them still available in the UK. I think it was one of the few Opels originally sold in the UK with an Opel rather than Vauxhall badge.

Hi there. Plenty of manta heads in this country. Best website is the irish owners club vxopel.com. Should get all the info you need on there.

    Here's a pic of mine

Let me see now, started with a bare 1977 B series shell. Fitted the 400 kit, a Redtop 16v, uprated discs and calipers on the front, disc conversion on the rear with a ZF LSD, and polybushed all the suspension mounts.Luckly I was able to do all the work myself. It's a real b-road flyer and it gets used every day as it's my only car.:D:D

    Hi opelmanta,

First thing that you should do is join the forums on www.vxopel.com and www.mantaclub.org. There you'll get a vast amount of information from owners/enthuasists and opportunities to buy Manta's.
I've managed to get a 1988 Opel Manta GT/E Exclusive in Monaco Blue this year but have done a lot of research and gone to view a number of cars in Ireland. But as you say the Manta's for sale in Ireland are pricey, and most of them are coming from the UK.

If you want any more info on my experience of trying to source a Manta, you can PM me and I'll give you as much info as I can.
