Boden do have some good players. It will be interesting to watch Keaney play hurling, something I've never seen before.

Seems that people are writing Ballyboden off quickly due to their record of losing finals. In particular Nalced :)

Vincents do boast an array of talent in Ronan Fallon,Stephen Loughlin,Kevin Flynn and McGrane.I think with these players in top form,Vincents should win.Something about the football and hurling teams for Vincents that has impressed me is their mental strength to play as a team even when they are behind and come from behind to win as was the case against Kilmacud Crokes in football and O Tooles in hurling..

As for abuse Nalced......its all in good taste.:D

 As a Vincent´s man Blackbelt, that´s beyond contempt! I presume you´re talking about the same Kevin Flynn that plays for O´Tooles and Dublin and lined out at full forward against Vins in the semis.

Mossy had faded a bit in the last few years, which is hardly surprising after the ordeal he went through, but from what I´ve heard and read, he seems to be making a big impression this year. Loughy seems to be playing well in midfield and Fallon is in a class of his own when it comes to Dublin hurling (although Johnny McCaffrey is catching up fairly rapidly).

Boden are a very good side and possess some of the most skilful and best hurlers in Dublin, if you let them play. Get stuck into them from the start and it´s a different story altogether. Vinnies and Boden in the final, it doesn´t get much better than this! :)

I wasn't,I actually don't know how I could have dropped his name in there other than that I am dying with flu at the moment so I'm not altogether with it 100%.I was reading about the match on Hill 16 and thinking of it while I was postin here.Making silly mistakes here and there.:o No contempt whatsoever.

I am a Vincents man too Citeog.

Loughlin had been struggling with injury and din't feature in the u-21 final but he is making waves on the club scene. He could quite considerably be a usual fixture in the senior team in the future. He's not a shabby footballer either.Ronan Fallon, who I believe deserved an all-star nomination, will probably be the standout man for Vincents. Can't see anybody even touching this guy.He is in a class of his own.If transfers existed in intercounty hurling,Fallon would be sought after by a lot of the intercounty teams.

After knocking out Craobh,Vincents have to be favourites. There's a good vibe down in the club.A double is very unusual when it comes to club championship.

One thing I notice about Mossy Quinn is that he seems to be playing much better from play while his free taking has dipped just a little bit.Still good for the 45 and frees but more influential from play.Seems to be the goal getter and this has won us matches against Whitehall and Kilmacud Crokes.

Probably should have put a smiley in there, but wasn't sure if I should have given you the benefit of the doubt! ;)

Although we knocked out 2 of the 4 strongest teams in the county to get to the final, I really don't think anyone deserves the favourites tag. Games against Boden are always tight and something a little more special and this one wont be any different. It's going to be a tight, physical game with Vins prevailing by the odd point (hopefully :) ).

Mossy has always been a class player and is far more than just a free-taker. He's proved it at both club and intercounty level.

As for the double: the senior camogie team have already one their championship, so we're on for the treble! :)

    Come on Vinnies!

Keaney was captain of the team i played on in hurling back in the day(or rather i warmed the bench for most of the latter years :) ), he is some player. Always knew him as a hurler in the club back then rather than a footballer. Im not writing Boden off but have a horrible sense of seen this before in my mind. We have to win it one of these years (said many times before) but this year Vinnies are looking very very strong. I think Boden can certainly win it but the smart money would have to be on Vinnies after seeing to 2 of the strong favourites. Tough games against O Tooles and Craobh Ciarans will stand alot stronger to them than a relatively easy win for Boden against Lucan Sarsfields. However i suppose we have always seen Vinnies as our main rival on the northside which will hopefully get something extra from the lads and of course the thoughts of the double will get extra from Vinnies. Boden can definately do it but it will take a huge game from them i think. Hoping for a great night back in the club after a win anyway and keeping the fingers crossed.

And the abuse, in good taste but after setting up this thread i dont want you going easy on me. Just remember, if Boden win i wont go easy on you ;)

I also am a Boden man, although I must confess I am a bit out of touch with the club scene so dont know enough to know who would be favourites. When and where is the match on?

It's on in Parnell Park on Friday night at 8:30. I'm not 100% sure but I doubt it'll be a sell out. Should be a good game though and well worth the excursion over onto the northside. :)

Blue and white, could be mistaken for Boden flags aswell! :p

According to this article, Boden are the favourites,
    Vin’s in historic double bid
    24 October 2007

Excitement is growing in and around the north Dublin GAA stronghold of Marino ahead of St. Vincent’s bid to win both the Dublin senior football and hurling championships this Bank Holiday weekend.

On Friday evening, the Vin’s will attempt to complete the first leg of an historic double when their hurlers face favourites Ballyboden St. Enda’s in the county final at Parnell Park. Then, on Bank Holiday Monday, the Pairc Naomh Uinsionn outfit will return to Parnell Park for the football decider against St. Brigid’s, and will hope to go one better than last year when they lost to UCD.

"It’s a great achievement to be in both finals, and everybody is so excited. We are all looking forward now to the weekend," said St. Vincent’s PRO Brid Power.

"Both squads have worked so hard to get there. We know we are up against two very good teams, but fingers crossed everything goes well.

"As far as we’re concerned, we’re going for the treble because we have already won the Dublin senior camogie title. There’s a wonderful atmosphere in the club, and it’s fantastic for our younger players. They have real role models to look up to."

In the middle of all the excitement comes the news that St. Vincent’s and Dublin legend Brian Mullins is set to take over as club chairman.

Great time to be a Vincent's man; pity I'll miss the finals though! :(

One of the team will have to wear an away type jersey i presume?

I'm not sure how that's going to work out. I've played against Boden loads of times (league and championship) and we've never worn different jerseys but it might be different for the senior championship final. Tbh, I'm not sure if they'll do it or not.

Eh, i dont think Boden have an away strip actually! Notice3d that with the Boden V Swords (or whoever it was) game that the jerseys were very alike. Both wore home strips and a mate of mine that was playing said it did cause alot of confusion. There is a question actually, what clubs do have a 2nd strip and why dont more?

Don't think we have a second strip either. The more I think about it, both teams will just be wearing their respective jerseys. It's not the first time they've played each other and it certainly won't be the last.

Boden lads getting the excuses in already! ;)

Hehe, not at all. No excuses needed :D

Anybody got an update on the score? Can't listen to it online. I think it's on Anna Livia (103.2 FM).

    C'mon Vinnies!

Terrible game really. Both teams were awful in the first half with Boden showing a bit more towards the last few mins of the first. Boden obviously got an earfull at half time and were a different team in the second. Fully deserved the win but will need to seriously lift it to beat Oulart The Balla or whatever. Did a bit of scouting while i was in Wexford about them and they seem to be quite a team. 5 intercounty players including the Jacobs bros and basically regarded as the best team in Leinster outside KK.

I was away in Glasgow for the weekend, but I did get a text from a downbeat Blackbelt with the final score. I sent my congratulations to Nalced_irl. Due to my journey to Malawi, that I head off on tomorrow, I'll have to give tonight's game a miss, as I have lots to do in preparation. (Donations, via my link, are still welcome.) I'll be expecting a few texts again though. There are a few GAA players coming on our trip tomorrow, so we may get a game or two in while there. :) I'll catch up with people after my return on November 14th and be sure to partake in a few more GAA Boards Beers in the coming months. Any of ye that have not been at one yet should come along.

well done to Ballyboden, and come on St. Brigid's! :D

Couldn't argue with this at all which seemed to be the order of the night.Vinnies were v disappointing and after their opening goal, they completely went on the defensive. In saying this, this is where they were very impressive with some block downs and good goal keeping to keep them in it after an onslaught from Boden.

After the break,Vinnies didn't come out to play.Midfield, attack and defense...everything went wrong.Incidentally,it was the lapse in concentration in defense that really lost Vinnies the match when they let in two goals with minimum challenges.

Oulart the Ballagh would fancy themselves strongly if they were to see this match.Everything was slowed down by the rain which had fell an hour or tweo previously,so we'll take that into consideration. If Ballyboden can play like they did in the second half,Oulart the Ballagh will have a game on their hands.

As for the Vinnies - Boden game,my man of the match goes to the public announcer man. After stumbling with substitution announcements he gave it a good "f*ck it" and the whole of Parnell Park couldn't contain themselves.

Incidentally, you did wittingly reply asking if it was the case that Vinnies were going for the single now but even if you disregard the camogie (which we won) its still one more than zero.:D:D

Anyway, you're 1-1 with Nalced_Irl now as Boden did beat Crokes in the hurling in the third round.Hope you enjoyed Glasgow and have a good time in Malawi.Bring that sunshine back with you.

As for Boards Beers, well we do have to support Boden in the hurling and VINNIES/Brigids in the football. Then there is the O Byrne Cup in January and the league in February,so that will make the winter shorter.

As for your shouting for Brigids, well we'll deal with them tonight and bring the cup home.:)
