    any way to set up our tcd addresses with thunderbird. i tried typing in the pop3 stuff with pop3.tcd.ie instead of googlemail, but it didnt work



    can it be done???

    Yes - I got it working with google and thunderbird. It's very annoying though as the "conversation" style of gmail doesn't really suit thunderbird (you get all your replies in the inbox too).

    Also - while in college thunderbird doesn't work (think it has something to do with proxies...).

    port=995
    smtp=smtp.googlemail.com
    using SSL secure connection

    I remember I found this on IS services - but don't remember what page...

    You can set up filters to route it all into your sent items, it's not too much hassle.

    But "normal" gmail let's me turn off "conversation" style - it seems that there is no such option with myzone's version...

    It's not too much hassle but it is something that they did not think through properly (and indeed I'd suspect something that they're trying to push onto people). Call me an archaic dinosaur but I like my email fed through linearly thanks ;)

    seemingly google have tied TCD into using this form as its a free service so they have not got much say in the setup :mad:

    p.s. pop clients are so passé :p
