    Hi,

I am very new to this thing so treat me kindly.
I have a set of two way radios, that I wish to use for leisure.
Is there any legality I should worry about, Could I pick up CB radio on it by accident?

    Any advice would be great..

I know this much, PMR 446 is the unlicenced frequency here. If they have that marked than its most likely that they wont be capable of CB without modification.

    NOTE: This may be wrong.

    hi there,

reply back with make/model/specification badges etc

from the info, other posters maybe able to tell you further about the use of the radios.

Did you buy them from new/2nd hand?? I presume they are handheld sets??

    good luck

There is legal "licence free" radio. Each only will work on one band.

CE marked CB (26.5MHz band roughly) about 5W Built in or External aerial. Beam / Directional aerials illegal.
CE marked toy walkietalkies approx 20mW and 49MHz. Only Built in aerial.
CE marked VHF Radio Microphones 174MHz band.
CE marked UHF data transmission 433MHz approx 10mW (Temperature, TV remote etc)
CE marked PMR446, 446MHz about 0.5W. Only built in Aerial.
CE marked UHF Radio Microphones 864MHz?
CE marked Video Senders 2.4GHz up to 500mW
CE marked WiFi (digital) 2.4GHz and 5.8Ghz bands.

Any device that can transmit on more than one of these is illegal (and unlikely!). I've never heard of PMR446 that could do CB. Modification (illegal) is not likely even possible.

27.5MHz needs a Licence, reserved for Community Radio. (UK CB channels actually).

Your radios work at 446 Mhz
    CB operates at 26mhz

    not going to conflict
