I only saw the women's race. Britton was beaten into third. The Ffrench-O'Carroll twins ran well, well up in the top 10, I think. One stayed with the leaders at the start, while the other hung back. The hanger-back came through on the last lap to beat the other twin. Sorry, I haven't a clue which one's Rebecca and which one's Charlotte. Deirdre Byrne was a clear winner, but I heard Britton has only resumed her training.

The full results are now available on www.msbac.com. Incidentally, at the risk of sounding pedantic, its the Gerry Farnan race, held in honour of Gerry, long time coach of Metro St Brigids, among others Eamonn Coghlan.

    Junior Women

    1. Ciara Mageean (Lisburn)

In Irish rankings as born in 1992, which makes her two years younger than the twins! Already has PBs of 4:32 and 9:39.

    Definitely one to watch.
