    Hi all

My brother went to some dodgy site and managed to get a few viruses on his pc. I installed everything from aVAST to Avg but they remain on the pc.

Ive attached two screen shots of what the viruses are (from spyDoctor - its the freeware version so it only detects them not removes), unfortunately Im not near the pc at the moment so i wont be able to give any other information other than these screenshots.

    any help is greatly appreciated

    ta
    Trilla

I notice the quality of the pics are poor when uploaded. There was a few Trojan horses and rogue antispyware infected on it...

    Hi There,

Only able to take a quick look cause im in work ,ill check it out further when i get home.... but it seems like some of those files are basically just sitting in your temporary internet files, id clear them and your cache and scan again to see i it makes any difference.

Also you would probably be better off running all these scans in safe mode.

Also install Spywareblaster and Spybot Search and Destroy

Then Run HiJack This.....and post the log up.

    thanks srdb20

yeah i cleared the cache etc but to no avail.

You reckon Spywareblaster and Spybot Search and Destroy will get rid of the trojan? I'll try that when I get a chance

    thanks!

Well Spywarebalaster will prevent it from being installed, Adaware & Spybot search and destroy will remove some of the spyware and Adaware, running HiJackthis and going searching through (post it and you can get a few people to take a look) the log will let you know what has to be removed, just be carefull not to remove genuine entrys.

and also running AVAST, AVG or NOD32 (think they have a 30 day free trial)

All of the above should be done in Safe mode....

Do you have any Firewall installed, is your machine patched up to date?

Installed Spybot Search and Destroy but I was unable to get it to run...

I first of all could not install this program until I unchecked the auto update.

Now when I run "check for problems" I get the error message "You need to install the detection updates first by using the integrated update or the manual updater."

When I run the manual update I get the information message "No newer updates available." Currently there is a problem with the internet on his pc so I had to grab the spybot installer from another pc and transfer it with a memory stick, so thats prob what is happening there.

But then I get the same error message when I try to check for problems.

    Do this

Download Combofix and save it to your desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

    1. Close any open browsers.

    2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
    • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" for further review.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
