really considering dropping out and deferring my course for the year, was wondering if anyone has done this in 1st year or knows anyone who did and if so did they regret it??

When I was in my first year of college. My friend wanted to drop out. But after some advice he received from his head of dept. he was able to finish out the year and then transfer to a similiar course without having to do 1st year in that course.

Dont waste a year if you can avoid it. you will regret THAT. Talk to your head of department or first year mentor and he/she will advise you on the best way to do it.

yes but he would have to pay 5500euro to do so, i have looked in to this . I was told if i drop out by friday , i wont have to pay this fees , so fri is deadline!

i studied computer science and hated it,and i did as many people do in that course drop out.after dropping out i had no real plans because up to that time i had always seen myself working in computers and id been turned off.so i continued with my part time job and knew someone who was in the bank so decided to give it a try.
i dont believe in regrets, but i hate being out and hearing all the lads talk about their college nights out and stuff,i kinda felt i lost touch with my generation after leaving college.
so the only advice i can give you is,if you dont like it and have tried to stick at it and its still going nowhere, then think about what you want to do in the long term.if you want to return to college next year,do that, but have a plan and dont just drift into a full time permanent job like i did...

BIG DIFFERENCE, depending on the courses, it may be possible to complete first year of a certain degree and jump straight into second year of a different course, without paying 6K as your not repeating a year.

If however you complete first year and jump into different course - but straight into first year, you do have to pay the 6K

i just have to say that this is brilliant advice.

if your not happy and contempt do consider it ,because you will just not be happy
