Getting to NZ - Flights

Am hoping to go there next August/Sept (Want to see if I can catch a few tri-nations matches).

Would it still be too early to start checking for flights. Would it be a case of the further away you book it the cheaper it would be?

Was thinking of doing a stop over in Sydney on the way over for maybe 2-3 days, as I want to spend the majority of time in NZ.

Anyone any suggestions about flights etc? I dont really know what to expect price wise.

    Thanks

You can book flights 330 days in advance. I'm going to NZ in April and I started researching flights monthes ago. We booked with Austravel, they were very good and we found the cheapest option. Qantas via Frankfurt. We're stopping in Malaysia for three weeks. You can try usit or trailfinders or book direct with qantas or air new zealand. I'm going for a year do i had to book a return coming back next September. I'll have to change that though in NZ, you just can't book flights more than 330 days in advance, or check costs or times. You should be ok for next August though.

We're flying through Sydney too so you could stop there ok. . Our flights were €835 one way and €1300 return with Qantas.

Our flights were cheaper than average because April is the start of Winter. i think the prices go up again in Augst time.
