    Hi all,
Having successfully set up my 12Volt camping satellite system from lidl, silvercrest model no. DVB-S SL 65/12, I find today however when I power up the receiver all that appears on the receiver’s display is G.G.G.G. I tried depressing the stand-by button for 10 seconds to see would that reset it, unsuccessful. I also tried connecting all the leads again including the power lead without success. Nothing happens when I use the remote control or the controls local to thr receiver. Also I do not get any display (e.g. menu) on my T.V. set.

Can anyone tell me the significance of G.G.G.G. or is the unit caput!

    Thank you.

Did you attempt a firmware upgrade or such like recently?

Any shorts on the satellite cable/connectors?

At least you have your 3 year warranty to fall back on.:)

No, I didn't attempt any firmware upgrade etc. and the connectors seem ok, the system had been working fine previously. What damage can be caused if you plug the power cable into the receiver without the dish cable being attached? I cannot swear that that didn't happen:confused:.

No idea what could be wrong, but try googling gggg with SL65 and Silvercrest or Comag. I've seen a few hits, but anything that may be relevant are from German or Spanish sites, so you might have to get your translator working on it.

    none.

However always powerdown whilst disconecting/connecting the 'dish cable' in case you accidently cause a short (inner touching outer). Current is sent on the cable to the LNB. I do not think short circuits on the LNB cable damage Lidl receivers (I know one that survived!) but don't count on this.

BTW what happens if you powerup with the 'dish cable' disconnected?, do you still get 'gggg'

Yeah - if you cannot get to the bottom of it then just call the Lidl/Comag support number.
