Help with NTL Digital and IR Blaster

    Hi,

I've got Windows Vista Home Premium that I wish to use as Media Center. I have got it hooked up succesfully to flat-screen TV and it works fine for videos, music, pictures etc. I also have the MCE remote working fine.

I connected my NTL Digital STB to the TV Card and can see the signal fine (using composite video for now but at least I get a proper colour picture).

My issue arises with getting the IR blaster to work so I can use the MCE Remote to change channels on the STB.

Unfortunately, my NTL Remote is currently broken so I can't use it to help setup the blaster. I have chosen Pace as my STB manufacturer (I believe all NTL STB's are Pace?) and it then gives me a list of thirteen codes for Pace STBs. As I choose each one, I check if I can change the channel but no luck.

I have also tried repositioning the IR blaster a few times, but no luck. However, I can't narrow it down to wrong Code or wrong placement of IR blaster. Does anyone know the correct code for NTL Pace STBs in Ireland? (or are there a range of codes being used by the NTL boxes out there?)

Also, where exactly are people placing their IR blasters on their NTL boxes?

    thanks,

    Al

about midway between the card and the ntl logo...works for me.

I've been advised to get two of these to reliably control two Sky STBs for a build for a friend. Might test them with NTL STBs while I have them to see if they work - might be worth searching on this cos they might do what you need.

im fairly sure you need the remote to set it up.
are you selecting ntl during setup or doing some manual stuff afterwards?

does a friedn not have ntl, you only need to borrow the remote for 2 miniutes

it gives you the option of specifying whether or not you have a remote

if you don't, it suggests codes that you can try

I can't think of anyone I know with NTL remote - probably just have to get NTL to fix/replace my current one
