The following is the death notice of Willie Swords writen by Gerry Deegan. I think it deserves its own thread.
    19th Oct 2007

    The passing of an Olympían

    Willie Swords

It is with the great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing, after a long illness, of one of Ireland’s greatest sportsmen. A man that proudly represented his Country in European Championships, World Championships and the Olympic Games.

Two years ago, Willie Swords from Kildare, was made an honorary life member of the Irish Amateur Archery Association in recognition of his achievements and his willingness to help others. Not only was Willie a fantastic archer but he also helped countless numbers of archers over the years. Willie was a quiet gentleman but a true Olympían in every sense of the word.

Willie will be sadly missed by the archers of Ireland

    may He Rest In Peace.

    Gerry Deegan
    National Team Manager
