If I were you, I'd be editing out the first bit altogether, as opposed to adding in a compliment at the end of it.

    Fast.

    Edit: Much better Papu. :)

Anyways, Some very nice shots there CM, nifty fifty is such a handy pice of kit.

I'd have a quick play about with 2 curve adjustment layers on each of them though, one, adjust the contrast for the faces, the other for the contrast in the background - I think the kids faces need a little less contrast and more detail in the shadows, while the backgrounds could do with a bit more contrast.

lens used for this was the 50mm f1.8 - great lens, 60€ from ebay. | settings? uhm.. its probably on flickr beside the photo. I use manual settings so forgive me if I cant remember off the top of my head :D

    like 2,4,6. nice shots.

no 1 may mean something to the mum/dad but i think the depth of field is at the extreme end of the scale. generally i love such depth of field but dad/uncle/whoever in the background while obviously out of focus (and perhaps thats intentional) but is maybe too close to main subject to be *so* out of focus for my liking (but hey! that's only my liking).

number 3 would be a good take for me only keep an eye on background. the child walking towards the two sitting - stuck in between the two (even though beyond the focus point) makes the picture 'busy' or some people may call it 'distracting'.

number 5 - the composition is good but i just think the crop of the chaps head is a little much. i don't think you have to always have a full head shot in place infact a 'cut' of a head can be quite creative and aesthetically pleasing but when the composition is as you have it, i'm not sure it works.

Again the above comments are most definitely to be taken as 'IMHO' - they are all nice shots i guess. well done. i've no doubt that the mums/dads of the kids will be well chuffed.

i hope the above is useful for you. cheers.
