it's on the end of the l/tops section in blanch. how does this compare to the much-vaunted dell vostros?

Is this it? I'll let others who know better comment on the value though.

    Yes, that's tthe one.

I'd also like those who know better how home-friendly this thing is?

What do you mean by home-friendly?

I would guess that that is a better system than any vostro at that price. The vostros are better, but you'd have to fork out a bit more.

So are the two deals above actually better value then you'd get from a Vostro?

Not imo....The pc world one is €630 after deductions and is the exact same spec as the Vostro one (N1010002) available for €460,plus you have to deal with those clowns from pc world

The one from power city has less disk space and is €50 more expensive...

Are siemens better than Dell though? 80GB would actually suit me fine, what warranty does it have I wonder, the site doesn't give away a lot of info.

If it doesn't say then I would presume it is a one year. I've never had any siemens computers but I have a nearly 4 year old dell desktop, a one year old laptop. My brother has the same and my sister has a vostro a couple of weeks old and I have had no hardware trouble from any of them.

I own two fujitsu siemens and had problems with both. The power connector on both of them broke(not covered under warrenty) and the sound stopped working(it started to work again out of the blue). One of them wouldn't charge a battery even after I bought a brand new one.
I bought an acer recently and so far so good although the wireless is a bit iffy.

the power city one is a dual core intel the vostro is an amd

a dell 6400(N10642) with the same processor costs €567

found out the powercity laptop is an amilo Li1705
Real negitives are the 3 cell 2.2A battery  ,only vista home basic and the smaller hard drive
Still the cheapest intel t2080 laptop, but the above dell looks like a better option for dual core intel even though €45 extra
