Ankermann have a great deal at the moment on a decent gaming/entertainment pc....

    http://www.ankermann-pc.com/en/

    INTEL Core 2 Quad Q6600 4x 2.4GHz | MSI P4M900M2-L ATX
    NVidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB PCI-e | 250GB SATA-II HDD 7200rpm
    2GB DDR-II RAM MDT | LG GSH H50L DVD-RW Lightscribe
Realtek ALC662 6 Channel Audio | DSL Ready 10/100 Ethernet LAN |600Watt Power Supply |2 Year Warranty

    €529.00 including delivery....

Its a great deal, when you consider a Quad Core cpu will cost you minimum €250..

With the 8800gt due in a few weeks for €200 you could sell the 8600gt (which is a fine card to play all the latest games at medium settings) for €60 or more and have a state of the art gaming pc for under €800...

They seem to add a credit card payment surcharge of 39 euro to each order though, which you only find out when you go to pay.

    Still good value though.

Does it include monitor, keyboard and mouse?

Its only a computer, no kb, mouse or monitor,
And I was thinking of getting this but I did a bit of research on it and it may not be that great.. see here

For example that mainboard is only m-atx, and its also the cheapest sock 775 board on komplett... and as they say you get what you pay for..

Well the keyboard, mouse and monitor will add a few hundred to it.

Very good points being made in that thread, but the Dell vostro's aren't without there faults too if you are into gaming....The psu in the Vostro can only take 70watt or below cards like maximum 7950gt/x1950pro,they cant take the dx10 heavyweights like 8800 series and HD 2900 series....Rumours are that the new midrange dx10 cards like 8800gt and HD3800 from Ati are going to be over 100 watts....So your going to have to get a new psu for the Vostro if you want real performance....The Dell motherboard and memory are not high end either, they are probably at the same level as the ankermann....

    http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=7&t=9354

Its still a good offer imo,but the extra €40 that Xda says they add on at payment makes it less attractive...

Just going by the title of this thread. In terms of a Dell alternative, what do you folk reckon is the best out there in terms of price and quality for a laptop?

I'd say the vostro. They are really good value at the moment.

Yeah, I hear Vostros are good alright, but I don't understand what a Vostro is sacrificing to make it so cheap and high spec compared to the other dells on offer. My question above was asking for a good alternative in terms of price and quality to a Dell/Vostro by the way ;) Acer, Siemens, HP etc?

That's the delivery charge. It is standard to add this on at the checkout stage. This is because if I buy two things I only pay the €39 once.
