Maybe NTL/Chorus are kinda turning a blind eye to piracy so it will keep people from getting satellite in now. When UPC`s network is fully operational it will be a great service (hopefully), but until then maybe the whole piracy thing as helping them in a twisted way.
They dont lose so many future customers to sky now, and when they get their encryption sorted out the pirates will be forced take out a legit subscription to keep watching the channels they are used to when their dodgy boxes become doorstops.

    Just a thought.

I'm sure UPC would rather loose a customer to Sky than to have a piece of their equipment being tampered and altered to allow the viewing of their network broadcasts.

I can tell you most people who have such equipment do so for the movie and sports packages and most either already subscribe to either Sky or UPC basic packages already and when and if any encryption is changed they will more than likely look to crack that system rather than pay for it legitimately as if they could afford to pay for it in the first place I'm sure they wouldn't be being involved in supporting criminals...
