I would go for a package deal, as you'll probably save some money and hassle that way. You want to look for the PSP plus a game and memory card.

Game and Gamestop do pretty good bundles, so I'd check with them. I can't remember the prices, but I'm guessing about €210-250 in total for the PSP Slim, new game and memory card. Maybe with even a few accessories thrown in too. (Good accessories to get would be a case, and maybe a USB cable and screen protector.)

There are no real downsides to getting the Slim PSP, unless you think your kids want to hack their PSPs! :D (It's harder to hack the new PSP so to many that's the only real downside.) What makes the Slim better is that some new games will load faster, and that with a component cable (that you have to buy extra) you can watch videos and play music (and games if you have a HD TV) from your PSP.

If you're looking for games, GAME have some pretty good deals on games right now, like buy one get one free on some fairly recent great games.
