Myself and my better half are going for a week to Paris. What fun, enjoyable, romantic things does anyone know of there?

    Something different?

    Thanks!

For a Nice Meal try - Petite Bofinger (http://en.parisinfo.com/paris-restaurants/-where-for-drinks-where-to-eat-/brasseries-1/paris-restaurants/32/petit-bofinger-bastille)

Take a boat trip on the Seine

I love walking around Montmartre and along the banks of the Seine on a sunny autumn day (esp on a Sunday).

    Thanks!

What sort of restaurant is it? (French? Dress up, dress down...?)

We are staying in montmarte so should be handy to walk around.

I would recommend, although not 100% romantic (The gf still thinks it's hilarious to this day i brought her here while on our romantic Paris break :D...), the Parisian Catacombs. It's a mass tomb spanning more than 300km way below even the sewers of Paris solely made of the skeletal remains of over 6 million Parisians dating to the Eighteenth century. The Architecture inside is pretty sweet and i found it a very interesting thing to do - i had done all the Seine boat trips etc before. Oh and the Metro station is right across the road from the entrance.

Avoid Irish pubs - wear comfortable walking shoes - take a scarf (it's cold outside!) - Grab a good map (streetwise) - take a 45min trip on the Seine from Pont Neuf for €13 - Notre Dame - Grab a carnet (10 tickets) each, good for metro & bus - walk around Pere Lachaise - Try a little French and they'll try a little English.

It's probably more a Bistro really and may need to be booked in advance. Dress would be smart but not formal.

The Bofinger (as opposed to Petite Bofinger) is probably more upmarket.

    Thanks Phog, and Ponster too.
We will try that restaurant. And going to be in a hotel in montmarte so will definitely give a walk about the area. Already planning on the batten moouge (sorry for the attrocious spelling!) boat trip.

That's mad - we are planning on seeing them. Came across them in a guide book a few weeks ago. Glad it's not just us who would do it as part of a romantic getaway:)

Disneyland Paris - it's fantastic fun, absolutely magical and there is something romantic about it.

I would recommend to anyone go there before you have kids, they only spoil the fun!

Wow, never would have thought of that. Is it far outside Paris? Take long to get to? Expensive? Do you need to pre-book? How do you get there if not renting a car?

Do I ask too many questions? lol

Rent a bike and cycle around the city. they are free to rent for half an hour and you can pick one up on any street corner. great way for exploring the city.

Oh and stay away from the tour of the sewers. Its different to the catacombs tour and I still havent forgiven George Hook for recommending it.

Good info there from Gatsby. Rent out a bike, drop it back to a terminal within the 30 minutes and then take another !

Check that it's not a French holiday first though.
My gf and I went there last December. It turned out it was some French holiday, and the place was packed out to the point of absurdity. We spent the entire day there and only went on one ride in each of the parks because of the length of the queues. Later at the parade it was so crowded that people were pushed up tight against each other and no one could move in any direction. Horrible experience.

Re Disneyland Paris I was there last week there was no ques over 5-10 mins. Here is a good link to avoid school holidays if you are considering going check out this thread http://http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1008857&referrerid=&highlight=school+holiday - If your trip dosn't coincide with French, German, Spanish, British school holidays then definitely don't miss DLP.
