    Hi all,

    Just setting up a new pc and I noticed this little socket on the back of the SATA harddrive (see attached pic).

    Should I be plugging something into this? If so, what?? :confused:

    for ide hdd's theyre for ur jumpers, as for sata drives, i havnt the foggiest! (maybe for RAID or summit??)

    anyway, it doesnt matter, nothin has to go there

    there is a few different options with those jumpers on SATA drives. But I mainly know them for forcing the drive to operate in either 3Gbps or 1.5Gbps.

    If the drive works in your computer then don't worry about it

    indeed, its for forcing a sata2 hdd into sata1 mode. If you only have a sata1 board for instance.
