Now, mostly being a Guiness drinker, I know where to find the perfect pint.

Where the hell in Dublin city can you get a nice pint o kilkenny? does it even exist?

    Anyone know?

Maybe try Mulligans, ages i've been in there but there might be an off-chance it's served there.
If not, tuck into the Guinness :)

is kilkenny not the same as Smithwicks?

I know Kilkenny used to have a creamy head and Smithwicks didn't but I think they changed Smithwicks a couple of years ago. Personally I think all Irish ales are foamy tasteless crap.

Depending on your taste...No, Smithwicks is still that brownish/tannish lifeless stuff you get last time i checked, some people like it, some don't, both are brewed in the same brewery.

Kilkenny is a totally different colour and much smoother head Guinness style and is actually quite nice to drink, very similar to John Smith's ale in UK. (try different cans of the stuff from Tesco to taste the similarity)

Strange thing is Guinness brewed Kilkenny stereoptypically for the tourists abroad and it's ended up one of their unintended better inventions in recent years.

To the OP..If you ever head out west, the Kings Head in Galway city serve decent pints of Kilkenny other than in Kilkenny itself!

Kilkenny was never originally brewed in Kilkenny

Get that man a Galway Hooker.
Or a Clotworthy Dobbin, or a Brainblásta, or a Bellringer...
