Hi, I know there are a few galway residents on here, heading down for the BH weekend. Can anyone recommend any nice spots particularily any waterfalls, nice rivers, lakes etc in County Galway.

    Cheers

Depending on the weather probably best to head out the Connemara coast, out in the Spiddal direction and keep on driving. You can wave at my office as you pass ;)

Some nice spots out near Moycullen and that direction too. I found, being a non-native, the best thing to do here is just get in the car and explore, same goes for any spot really I guess. Have a nice break :) Oh, and the water is safe now :P

The road from Galway to Letterfrack and on to Tully Cross/Renvyle way has some spectacular scenery (see my pix.ie page for the type of scenery)
Also down around Clifden is lovely.
On the other side of the county, the area around Kinvarra is lovely too.

Quiet Man country if you venture far enough in the Mayo direction, some lovely forests and things up that way. Kylemore Abbey could be a bet for Letterfrack too...

If you don't feel like travelling out of the city, there are always the university grounds, the river walk to Dangan, and then in and around the Dangan sports grounds themselves. On the other side of the river, you can take the Dyke Road out to Menlo village and to the castle.

On the Dangan side and Menlo side respectively, you can get photos like this:

If you like architecture, there are some beautiful old (and new) churches in and around the city. The cathedral, St. Nicolas', St. Mary's, etc.

There's Merlin Park forest inside of the city, with it's ruined village and castle - the castle's interior was accessible when I left in May. It's treacherous but beautiful, be warned if you want to shoot it.

Renville forest park in Oranmore, it's always been a favourite with me. It has some magnificent trees and a beautiful ruined mansion.
