Anyone know around when Nvidia plan to release their next flagship card the Nvidia 9800GTX??

My computer is 5 years old and looking to build a new one very soon, however im willing to hold out a bit longer for this new card if it comes out over the next few weeks, either i'll buy it if its around the same price as the current 8800GTX when released or if its too expensive i'll purchase the 8800GTX Ultra at a cheaper price than it is now.

Are we likely to see these new cards from nvidia before Christmas this year??

I myself have given up on the 9800. It's be the normal routine for me... I can't wait so I buy the current high end card (at the end of it's life)... then all of a sudden out comes the new one without warning and i'm stuck with second best when I paid for the best

Thats how the table always turns for me.... and I don't see my luck changing anytime soon...

8800GT is G92 like papu said, it's not really a completely new arch, more like a refined die shrunk G80. Whatever it is it's good.

it jus seemed like maybe the appropriate thread to ask this, but why do the put the heat sink modules on the bottom of the card?...

i mean, if theyre gonna design them, paint them, watever, wouldnt it make alot more sense if the cooling module was on the top side of the card?...for aesthetics like

and besides, heat goes up, so if ya slap the module on top of the card, that would stop a bit of heat radiating up towards the cpu heatsink.

it jus seems kinda dumb that theyre placed on the bottom where ya cant see them in all their glory

is there any reason for this?.... maybe lack of space?...still sounds half-assed tho

well it depends on the case , if the case opens on the left ( looking at it) the card is going to be face down , also , if you Have a full tower case and the mobo is effectively turned up side down the gfx will be at the top and right way round , tbh i dunno the majority of people Have to mount the card Cooler down
