"->" notation in PHP

    I will succumb eventually to PHP, but Im just trying to understand a small piece of code for now.

    What does "->" mean, or better still, is there equivalent notation in Java?

    I'm not a PHP guy really but the language supports OO design from the looks of it and the -> operator refers to data items stored in an object.

    The equivilant in java is '.' as in myObject.SomeFunction()
