Sky+ query (old box)

Rang local sky installer about sky+ and he said that if I gave him back my old sky box he would charge me € 149 + € 45 installation, if i didn't give up the old sky box it would be €149 + € 60 installation.

I assume that this is incorrect and that I would own the old box as I have completed the 12 month contract.

If I order through the sky I believe it to be € 149 + € 45 and I can keep existing sky box.

Just called and they said the exact same thing as me. Is it possible to just buy another box and then just put in the same viewing card from a normal box?

My uderstanding is that you own the box as it says 'free' when you get it first. I got multiroom so kept the original box but we're paying for an extra subscription, ad never paid specifically to keep then first box (non-sky+).

Curious. I'd get on to their customer service instead of the installer, he could be codding you. Ask them to confirm and if they still maintain you should be paying, re-read the contract if you have it.

Yes, you'll just need to ring Sky to get them to pair your card to your new box.

As for saving €15 by surrendering your old box, you'd get far more for it by selling it privately. I've never heard of this sort of "deal" before.
