Dates clashing?

I would have thought that with MMA and MMA related sports/disciplines being relatively new to the mainstream in Ireland that they would be workin together to get the most out of the supporters/spectators that follow such events.
With that said i have two questions
    1) Why do so many events clash dates?
    2) Is there a lack of communication between north/south?

e.g: Oct 20th Cage Wars is on in Belfast and The BJJ open is on in Dublin
Nov. 18th MMA League 4th round is on in Dublin and UFR11 is on in Derry

NOT a North South issue. For example, Mak Leonard promotes both the League and the UFR promotion in Galway, why would he intentionally clash any dates or put either promotion in danger of losing spectators or competitors?

I think it has more to do with venue dates and such. It's hard to get a hall, club or hotel at all never mind picking your own date.

Thanx Roper, so obviously its coincidence.
I understand venues might dictact dates but Can promoters not do more to try and assure they are varying. If you look at the MMA calendar there's plenty of free weekends!?

Mak ' The knife' Leonard :D

MMA League Fourth Round is the 1st of December dude, not sure where you are getting your info?
Cage wars does not check in with anybody else in the MMA community about their dates AFAIK, they have certianly never asked me when any of my events were on, this could be ocurring silently however. The rest of us (Davy, Andy John and I) do keep in regular touch about date scheduling.

Mark is right about this,we do check in with each other on a regular basis and try to keep distance between events, cage wars set their own timetable.

Thanks for clearing that up lads, I was just wondering why different events seemed to clash as it seems counter productive to the sport.

But, as pointed out above, they don't clash!

LMAO, just from reading here today, I have found that John is doing a seminar in Dublin and cornering in UFR, while I'm fighting in UFR and ref'ing the MMA league in Dublin, all on the same day!

Colm and I did try and move the League from the 1st to give the guys in Derry some room, but there was no venue availability for any other weekend that didn't clash with something else.

Just to clarify, i only asked the question as a legitimate enquiry as to why orgs/promotions clashed so much. I don't know if any was taken but i didn't mean any disrespect to anyone i mentioned (ufr/MMA league etc.).
I only stated the facts as i have them, i never said who would be at any of these events or what part they would be taking. If they're incorrect feel free to bring me up to speed.

Mark, The info came straight from http://www.mmaleague.com/ !?!

Yeah myself and mark did talk about the dates clashing but we had already our place booked and his couldn't be moved

It's definately a good idea for us all to try to stops any clashing of events I don't think any of us really want that as it means fighters have less chance of making it on the shows and it gives spectators less chance of seeing all the action
