Ive recently got sky digital and I find it very dauting. At the moment all I watch is the movies and sports at the weekend. Because there are so many channels I find it hard to follow anything.

Looking for reccomendations! What am I missing and when is it on ?

I have been using Digiguide (www.digiguide.com) for years, its reasonably cheap and its the dogs bollox :)

Add all the channels you like/want, set reminders, favourites blah blah blah and you are rocking. Think you can get a months trial to check it out. I know theres a good few people on boards use it too as I have seen it mentioned a lot.

I just note the channel number that something I want to see is on and whack it into the control, I rarely use the EPG on Sky at all.

edit: heres a maximised screenshot of mine right now:

Dexter on FX if you haven't seen it. And if you haven't then FOR SHAME.

You could also set up "Favourites" which allows you to allocate 50 (afaik) channels into your Favourites list. Can be handy instead of sifting through piles of crap.

i find http://www.tvguide.co.uk/default.asp?thisday=&thisTime= pretty good. The on-screen tv guide can be a little slow.

Can't be any slower than booting up your laptop/pc and logging onto a website just to see what's on the bloody telly.
It depends on your box, if you have an older one it can be slow but everyone I've ever had is much quicker than opening a webpage.

Get Sky+ - will change the way you watch TV forever (for the better I might add ;)). Definitely Sky's best feature in my opinion.

Sky + is brill you can look at programs when you want to but you have to have a phone line in your house!

Cant recommend Sky+ highly enough. Absolutely brilliant and once you get used to it you will wonder how you ever lived without it.:D

I also have my 50 favourites setup so just press the blue button and scan through the channels Im interested in to see whats on or else view them in the TV guide. Very rarely would I watch something outside those 50 channels.

+1 on the sky+. it really is fantastic and i simply couldn't go without it nowadays. I rarely even watch live tv anymore because of it; see anything u mite be even remotly interested in and hit record.
Also you do NOT need to have it connected to a phone line as a previous poster said

Thanks for all the replies. I, eh, dont actually have sky digital but I have all the channels you get with sky digital...if that makes sense. So I dont have the favourites options.

The reason I made the thread was because I generally just find myself flicking through the channels. I never know what to watch.

How far into the season is Dexter ?

It's over. They're repeating Brotherhood season 1 now, in it's timeslot, which is argueably the better show, in my opinion.
