Rattling manhole covers!

Can anyone give an explanation as to why in an era when so many technological marvels are possible it seems impossible for Dublin City Council and the other utilities to source manhole covers that will not rattle.

People talk about quality of life in a city but it is this type of thing that would literally drive you mad. (Trying to get DCC to assume responsibility is nearly as frustrating!)

Apart from the ones local to my own house there is one outside NCAD which is like an explosive going off everytime a car touches it - how this can be left outside a teaching establishment is beyond me!

Manhole covers would be made to exact dimensions, the cover should fit perfectly. Trouble is the people fitting them, or the fact they have been dug up and replaced badly, or in the case of the new ballymun road, each one has it own pothole to sit in. Shoddy workmanship is the problem. Dcc should be inspecting work carried out by contractors, but it would seem that they don't. They would probably say the workload on their inspectors in huge, but the fact is there is only so much one person can do in any half days work, which is all dcc workers do.
