I'm looking for a portable recording device for college to record lectures - is there such a thing as an mp3 player with a record functionality that would do the job? I'd need to record up to 3 hours worth at a time.

You can just buy a cheap dictaphone, which will be fine, or you can get an mp3 player with line in, so you can plug in a decent mike into it to record your lectures or whatever.

I got one in Maplins, a cheap one, has line in, mp3 and mp4 playback, 1Gb, for 45 euro. You'd laugh but the only other ones I could find with line in in the decent brands were very expensive. Recording quality is good. It's a Lavod player.

Cheers Havok - that lavod player sounds grand, not too expensive either. I'll take a trip down to Maplin
