The event commences on Friday morning the 19th of October with an education seminar to address diversity in education. This seminar is managed by the Meitheal Project and hosted by the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown. On the same evening a fashion and music extravaganza takes place in the Fingal County Council offices.

On Saturday the 20th of October celebrations will commence at 11.30am, with events taking place in Blanchardstown library including origami, African story telling, mask making and drumming workshops. At the Verona Sports Grounds behind the Blanchardstown library an array of activities will take place including music, art workshops, face painting, henna, clowns, comedy and hair braiding. For those who are interested in cinema, a programme of movies from around the world will be shown for free in the UCI cinema in the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Throughout the day, at the Verona Sports Grounds there will be range of sporting activities for all ages. Once you’ve built up an appetite you can sample foods from a diversity of cuisines from around the world, including delights from China, Jamaica, Mexico, Palestine and Nigeria; as well as Indian food. For those with more European tastes, crepes, cheeses and tea and coffee will also be available. In the afternoon at Fingal County Council offices there will be Hip Hop performances by notable dancers.

A range of exhibitors will be there throughout the day such as Metro Eireann the Irish Countrywomen’s Association, displays by local artists and artifact exhibitors from South Africa and Sudan. A Bedouin tent will host music from North Africa while arts and crafts will also be on display there.

A multitude of musicians and dancers will perform including the Punjabi group, Irish dancers, Igbo dancers, Ugandan Dancers, a Polish band, the Halleuia Gospel Choir and The North Strand Klezmer Band. On Saturday all events are free and suitable for all the family to attend.

CELEBRATE will take place at a variety of locations in Blanchardstown on Friday the 19th and Saturday 20th of October. Locations include the Fingal County Council Offices on Grove Road, the Verona Sports Grounds on Grove Road, Blanchardstown Library and the UCI cinemas in the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Yeah it does, I wouldn't mind catching some of the music. Might drop up for a while on Saturday if I get a chance.
