    Hi All,

I come from the dark side (PC's) and use a lot of audio apps. Im considering moving to Mac, and am thinking a Mac book will suit my needs in terms of portability taking sessions from studio home etc .

Most likely running the new logic in the near future but need to run Pro tools short term till my journey on the road to damascus is complete.

So my question is, will mac book suffice, do I need a mac book pro or will neither of em do the job?

Anyone have any experience running audio apps on a mac book Id appreictae your feedback.

    T

Which version of PT will you be hoping to run. Ideally, if you can afford it, Macbook Pro is the way to go, but others on here feel that macbooks that are pimped out can manage the job. Its a bit controversial, some feel it would be frustrating slow (like me) and others are happy to push their machines to the limit and often to a grinding halt.

I use an MBP with alot of pro audio apps and Im very happy with the performance. I could not see myself using a Macbook for the work I do to be honest.

The new Logic certainly looks nice doesn't it - nice job Apple did there, eventually! SUre they didn't change much since the eMagic days until this overhaul.

Cheers for the reply 440Hz , PT 7.1 is what Im currently running , might throw the few quid at it to go to 7.4 if it means a smoother drive?.

The new logic looks very impressive I gotta say, I figure given Im gonna be new to mac I might move to logic and learn OSX and Logic together ... a bit of a challenge maybe , but I have a bit of decent support.

A bit of a leap in terms of cost from a book to book pro  but I guess its gonna be worth it long term , Im gonna shift some hardware to fund it so that should ease the sting a bit  (Know anyone looking for a Digi Rack :D)

Im planning to use the Mbox2 I have at the moment as a short term thing to keep the pro tools sessions on the go.. Id be looking at something similar for an option going into logic.

There are probably a ton of options depending on your needs tbh... Feel free to ask in the Recording forum if you need more advice, someone there will probably know what would suit best given your setup/requirements.

Yeah the Mbox is nice, edirol have a nice choice too. Have mostly used edirol boxes with Logic here at work (old Logic though).

No reason why it shouldnt as long as the drivers are setup properly etc. The MIDI utility in the Mac is very handy once you get your head around it.
