    Oscar Wilde tops a poll of Greatest British Wits, despite being born in Dublin. He was considered an 'honorary Brit' for the purposes of the poll, lucky him!

    Interesting that Spike Milligan came second. Interesting because his father was Irish, he held Irish citizenship, renounced the crown, and his famously witty gravestone reads 'I Told You I Was Ill!' - but as gaeilge.
