My sister in the states would like to share family videos with the extended family at home. Obviously sercurity is very important. What is the best way of doing this?

I know that FTP would be an option but is it serure enough?
Is there any websites that provide virtual space? That could only be accessed by certain people?

    Thanks.

You could use rapidshare. You can pay for an account (around $10 a month) or use a free account. Then you can upload files that are available to download by anyone. The files remain on the site until your premium account runs out (if you are using a premium account) or until 30 days after the last download if you are using the free account.

They only allow files of up to 100MB. If the video files are bigger than this you can use something like winrar to break the files up into smaller ones which can be joined together after download.

I agree with AlmightyCushion, plus with Rapidshare you can password the files, so the security is definitely there.

if she doesnt want to upload, just share a folder of media files, maybe orb could do that, but her pc would need to be on, for friends to see

Recently used Diinoweb for a 1.5GB file:

Was free and worked fine. You can also password protect files and directories.

Free download manager has a nice upload function. It says that the limit is 100mb but I think you can go above this.

You can state how long you want the files to be on the server for and password protect them if you wish. Also if you are uploading a number of files, it will zip them up for you.
