Anyone on this watch A Country Practice ?

I used to love it .... Fatso the wambat, the mad shirley sitting under the pyramid in her living room, everyone that came to the small town ending up in the hospital. Great TV.

I was going to say that was the first Aussie soap of note, but of course Sons and Daughters was on around the same time, and The Sullivans preceded them both.

Flying Doctors was another Oz soap as far as I can remember, don't remember a whole lot about Country Practice.

I remember one episode vividly, where Cookie found a WWII Mine in the wall of his Bar for some reason. Weak plot, but the only interesting episode for me. The rest I was forced to watch by the Mother, and by virtue of the fact that the only programme on Bog 2 was Bosco, the puppet with arms growing from his hips.

    Only remember the tune.

For some reason, I always get it mixed up with the theme of the Sullivans.

Probably because the piano bit in The Sullivans is practically identical to A Country Practice's theme.

My parents were hooked on this. I loved the theme tune. It was so exciting when I found myself queuing at the same taxi rank in Sydney as Penny Cook, who played Molly, back in 1994:p.

Yeah, my mum used to watch both, hated them as I wanted to watch cartoons...:o

There was also a Scottish one she used to watch...trying to remember the name of it... Take the Highroad maybe?

Think she occasionally watched The Flying Doctors, but not as religiously as the others...

I remember Frank and Shirley who used to meditate in a triangle yoke, Terence who had a bit of a multiple wife thing going including something with the matron, Brendan and Molly who had a child with a brand new name: Chloe! Oh my, the memories. Was Bob the name of the plumber that was friends with Cookie?

And we always got to look at the waiting room and the one overused operating theatre in the hospital, they'd give the HSE a run for their money!!
Remember Terence's wife that was the DOctor, didn't she get sick or something? And Maggie Sloane, the matron!
