Confused about our rights

We moved into our house *rented* about a month ago. The previous tenants had a stray cat in the house so we have fleas.

We got rentokil in to spray and it was sound for a month. We found them in a room again yesterday so now it will have to be sprayed again.

We had to get all our clothes cleaned in a 60' wash to make sure there were no fleas in it. The landlord said he would pay for the laundry (lots of dry cleaning as there were girls in the house). The bill came to 900 and then they only gave us 250. She said that paying for the laundry was just a goodwill gesture in the first place.

We are now in the same situation and he does not want to foot a laundry bill again.

Are we entitled to get out laundry done by him or was it really just a goodwill gesture?

    Thanks.

Sounds like this problem will happen again. I'd say find a new house, and clean your clothes before you move in there, as there is probably an infestation somewhere where you can't reach.
