Great short game drill

Just have Setanta Golf on in the background here, the guy just showed what seems like a cracking short-game drill that he says pros use, called "Par 18".

You pick 9 different spots around the (practice) green. You must get the ball up and down (chip and putt) to get a Par... Chip-in gets you a birdie... Chip and two-putt is a bogey etc...

You play from the nine different (obviously varied in length, lie and nature) spots, hence the par of the game is 18...

I'm going to give it a try, I've really started to enjoy working around the chipping green and am seeing the improvement in my short game.

The guy also showed that putting drill that Golf Ninja brought up a few weeks ago - 3 putts along the same line, 3ft, 6ft, 12ft with three in a row needed to "pass" and going back to the start when you miss...

    Interesting stuff...

You can pick up some great stuff on setanta and the golf channel

That drill sounds like it would help to keep the interest up.

Well it's great for the American golf obviously, although I was without it for a good few months (before getting Setanta) and have actually found it difficult to get back into the habit of watching it! That may be a good thing though - when you start missing the first two hours of night's out cos you've your face pressed to the screen waiting to see who'll take the lead into the final day of the ACME Open, maybe you're watching too much golf!

Like the Golf Channel, there's alot of repetition on it, but it's good to stick it on in the background and maybe take a few pointers from the instruction programmes... Also, they run repeats of an old programme called "Shells Wonderful World of Golf" which I always enjoy watching.

It's old exhibition 'challenge' type games from years back, including players like Sam Snead etc... very interesting stuff...
