I have a dell inspiron 9400 windows xp. I mainly use for playing online poker.Never any probs and works very well indeed.
I also have a dell inspiron 9400 windows vista. I use this also to play online poker. Problems were on the vista the screen kept freezing and going weird on me.
Been in touch with dell tech support and then had to reset to factory settings.
But soon after the problem returned..........any ideas why?
    thanks for any comments.

Its very vague and hard to try and determine whats causing your vista laptop problems. It could be over heating and freezing, could be a drivers related issue with your graphics perhaps, theres many thing it *could* be but narrowing it down to the direct cause would take some investigation. The next time it freezes on you, turn it off, turn it on again and once it loads, Right Click My Computer (either on the desktop or in the start menu) and select Manage. Once that loads up select event viewer on the left hand side and under that select system logs.Check and see where any errors reported at the exact time that the laptop freezes.
Thats all I can recommend for the moment, also try using the Vista updates to make sure you have all upto date patches and drivers for the laptop in question.

When you say reset to factory settings, what exactly do you mean? Did they get you to use the recovery disks giving restting it to like when you got it, or did they get you to just do a roll backr?

Have you installed many programs recently? Uninstall everything you don't use (they can run in the background without you even knowing).
