AFL Forum?

Just a question for the mods. Would there be any chance of getting an Aussie Rules forum started on Boards?

Personally I take a big interest in the game and I know there are other regular posters who feel the same way. There is a strong Irish contingent now playing in the league with Tadhg Kennelly, Setanta O'hAilipin, Martin Clarke and Colm Begley all starters for their respective clubs. Indeed there is more reason for Irish interest in this sport then there is in, say, American Football or Baseball, both of which have their own forums.

With it currently being the off season over here it would give people the opportunity to familiarise themselves with some of the aspects of the game before the 2008 starts.

I would be more than willing to moderate the forum or help in any way possible. Feedback would be great. Cheers.

Not a mod but seeing as there hasn't been any posts about AFL in the last god knows how long, and the season is over, I just can't see the need for one.

Ah but to be fair who even reads the sports forum? If there wasn't an Archery forum do you think people would post about it? I know GAA heads take an interest in it with all the Irish boys there. Plus there are quite a fair few Aussie posters who I'm sure are fans. Where's the harm?

Basically it's a popular enough sport to warrant a place to talk about it.

Nothing stopping anybody talking about it here though is there? Don't see the point in starting a new forum because you "think" there "might" be a bit of interest in it

Anyway its not really my place to argue. You can nominate new forums here http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=461

No idea why have such a thing against it to be honest. Not like Australians or something? Annoyed our players are going over there?

EDIT: As for using the wod 'might', I can hardly guarantee posters now can I?

Nothing against the game. Nothing against australians. Hope the Irish lads do very well at it. Just because I don't think a forum is neccessary doesn't mean I dislike the sport or the people involved

But thats the point. Recently there was a spate of posts about equestrianism, and it got its own forum.

Well I previously started one thread on the sport and it got a decent response considering it has no forum. Even if only five or ten people want to discuss it why shouldn't they have an outlet to do so? And don't say the sports forum is an outlet because as I said already no one reads it.

    Here's that thread -

Don't tell me there's no interest

And I've already told you how to go about asking for it...

Yeah I know. Cheers for that, I've posted my thread in that forum. Fingers crossed eh?!
