Good knee support / brace

    Hey,
Does anyone know a good brand / type of knee support / brace; where to get and roughly how much?

It would be for the purpose of helping to keep the patella stable in training. In town on Sat and I saw some heavy duty ones for around €50. I don't know if these would be a bit too heavy, or if ones that are lighter but wrap around mutiple times are better?

I used to have a normal enough one years ago but it always got very hot and itchy during training so I stopped wearing it. In summary, I'd like it to offer good support but yet not be too restricting also.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Posted this on fitness forum first, but not getting any feedback there!
    Thanks,

    Simon

If you have aproblem petellar groove, and it was diagnosed by a physio, i would suggest that you ask him or her exactly what type of brace you need. the majority of knee braces out there are designed to stabilise any lateral movement of the kneen joint, so you could well end up dropping 40 or 50 notes on something that, in effect, is useless to you

Thanks for reply. I'm seeing physio tomorrow night actually so will ask him then anyway. Since I need for MA though, I hoped someone here might have similar experience or have used one before. I do need stabilisation on the lateral side. Yeh, the ones I saw were about €50 alright. You wouldnt know if I'd be better with some tape and a lighter wrap support.

    Thanks

Sportsmiths have really good ones made by Brute, for wrestling.

However, sounds like they'll be too "heavy duty" for you.

Worth a look, around 50 sheets.

Great, will check out. Dont know about the heavy duty side - am more concerned about the "restricting" factor than the "heavy" factor! Also, ones I had years ago really itched a lot and twisted around which meant i didnt bother wearing them then. They were prob cheap ones though. Above sound good esp if made for wrestling..
    Thanks

Occasionally I pop my knee out and I use this one:http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=30001&langId=-1&catalogId=1500000801&productId=1500118029&clickfrom=name

It does the job for me and is cheap to boot. Talk to your physio though, as I've tried one that was recommended by a physio and it was pretty good.
