I'm thinking of purchasing a high resoluton monitor i.e. 2560x1600. I will also have to purchase a dual-link DVI-D graphics card. My current motherboard though is a few years old, it's an Asus P4C800-E deluxe. I have my doubts if this motherboard will support this type of graphics card, anyone know if it does?

Also if I wish to have more than one monitor connected to my pc, will I need another monitor connection on the graphics card or is there any other way I could do it?

No it doesn't, you'll need a new graphics card. Preferably a recently released one, x1k,x2k ati series or 7/8 series nvidia geforce card. Most new cards have dual dvi connections so that won't be a problem nowadays.

I know I'll need a new graphics card, I'm just wondering if i'll need a new motherboard also, are you saying I do?

I've been searching around the past few hours for more info and I have seen some AGP cards that have dual link DVI D connectors such as the Sapphire Radeon X1650. Would getting a card like this suffice?

PCI-E slot mobo or here is an agp card that will work too. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=329863

Cheers, soz for all the questions, hopefully this is the last one, but will any AGP card that supports dual link DVI D work?

Yep, just make sure it's dual-link. Komplett display the max res supported by the card so you can't go wrong.

What are you going to be using it for? It's important that the graphics card is right for you. Some of the older graphics cards would be for games, or graphics (CAD, etc). Not sure about the newer ones, but something to keep in mind: some are optimized for particular things, some are good at all.

I'm using it for primarily poker, I wish to display several tables at once with no overlap, so I don't really need a real high-end gaming card, just a good enough one to support a 2500x1600 resolution.
