Assistant psychologist roles in hospitals

Do they actually exist in Irish hospitals? I know the NHS offer assistant psychologist jobs for people with a BSc in psychology who plan to go on to a masters or PhD program but I haven't heard of this in Ireland.

It would be an invaluable opportunity to get hands-on experience of working in your chosen field before spending 3 further years on your PhD course..

Unless anyone knows any other way of gaining work experience, especially as an undergrad?
