Did anyone ever use these guys? Just saw a couple of lenses which take my fancy and apart from the obvious VAT and duty costs I know a few people taking trips to the states in the next few months I could get them to pick some up.

Adorama are a highly reputable company. Shop with total confidence. They are not far from that other excellent retailer B&H and both companies are owned by orthodox jews. I mention the latter as you need to be careful of jewish holidays - they close for the duration. Always check their website for details and don't arrive there as I did a couple of years ago (in October) only to find them closed for the week.

I've used Adorama without any problems whatsoever. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Go for it!

Have you got stuff sent to you via their site or did you get people to bring back lenses? Just wondering if people got caught for VAT from orders.

i tried to buy a d2xs from BH PhotoVideo but they will not ship to Ireland because of Manufacturers request

    HOWEVER

just discovered that Adorama WILL ship the camera and it's cheaper!

They have a used camer rated as Excellent + condition which works out at 2,600 euro.

Even allowing for VAT, that's 3200 euro for a camera that's 4000 here.

Even cheaper if you are in states and bring it back.

My OH buys from Adoroma. They use UPS delivery and he has not got caught for duty or tax. The last lens he bought cost $800 +$47 delivery. The same lens here is over €1,000. Ordered it on line on Thursday 11th October 07 and it was delivered on Tuesday 16th 07.
