What's the procedure for repair or replacement and what's the cost? reason for asking is I recieved a mastercare coverplan renewal which I;ve been using for 3+ years at a cost of 76 euro a year but which I've never needed, is it worth the cost

I'd say for less than €76 you could get a decent second hand Sky digibox from eBay, delivered. And that's should your current box ever break, and it hasn't so far. Sorry to pour salt in the wound, but 3 x €76 = €228, and for that you could even have got a Sky+ box.

So no, IMO Sky's coverplan is definately not worth it.

Thought not, box is 5 yrs old and never missed a heartbeat  out of interest what is the cost of a brand new box (standard not Sky+) and where are they bought?

This site (first search result returned by Google) sells unsubsidised Sky digiboxes for £99.95.

Site that benifa mentioned works out about 165 euro with delivery which is an excellent deal.

Cheap it is, but it might take a while to get here, especially with the UK postal strikes as well, it's maybe not be worth the hassle. Perhaps buying from an Irish site for €194.58 inc delivery might be a better option.. ;)

Or what some have done when box goes faulty, ring Sky and threaten to cancel and usually they get a service call and box replaced free.

If its posted by Parcel Force, it will get here. Parcel Force, which is a branch of the Royal Mail, was not affected by the recent strikes.
