    Hi Hannah,

Car looks very nice. I was thinking of it myself but ended up getting one in the UK.

I joined the Irish Jaguar and Daimler club and got a very useful list of contacts, so you should consider it. http://www.irishjagclub.ie/

For upholstery try Rory Callaghan - 01 4504414. He did a motorbike seat for me a few years back and was very good.

For bodywork (maybe rechroming also) try Alexander motors Kilcullen, 045 482169, or Byrne and Murphy Body Repairs and Servicing, Crumlin 01 4557069.

Best of luck with the work!

    cheers,

    Barry

The Jag club have a list of contacts on thier web site, follow the link & click on links on the left. Derek Dickinson is highly reccomended as a general specialist (if you know what I mean!)

If you need a hand on your Jag, I'd be very happy to help. Whereabout are you?

How are the mechanics? The hand brake?

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. It looks alot better in the pictures than it does in the flesh but don't they all. Luckily it seems mechanically sound with the handbrake, engine & all the electrics working fine. I live in Limerick & most of the clubs events are based in & around Dublin afaik which is a bit of a pain for me. I wouldn't fancy the petrol bill for a round trip with a 4.2 litre engine to be honest.

Seen that car for sale for a long time... thought it must have some rust issues given it was for sale for so long - still, so long as you know what it needs and got it for a fair price, no harm done.

For a driver seat, and chrome, might be as well place a wanted ad in the B&S, or get over to the UK to one of the autojumbles or specialist suppliers.

Don't know if of interest but I have a series 3 for resto or spares - not sure how much is compatible with the series 1. Also I have what I think are series 1 front wings - last time I looked (about 2 years ago) they were good around the headlamps and bottoms.

PM if interested in either the above. I'm not a dealer, just someone with too many projects and not enough time. I've decided to focus on the other cars for now, much as I love the XJ.

    Hi 8~),

Yeah, there are some rust issues with it but nothing that can't be sorted. It needs some parts cut out & replaced & a total respray but I have that side of it sorted. What is the interior of the series 3 like. As far as I know the seats would be interchangeable. What year is it & what are you looking for it. Pm me with details if you can.

I think the seats are different between the series 3 & 2. Slightly higher back on the S3? I could be wrong on that though.

If the bases are the same though there are new bases for sale on ebay.co.uk for £69 I think. But then you wouldn't have that nice patina.....

The roof in the SIII is higher than in the SI. They may have made the seats beefier but not necessarily.
