noticed the guard in ep 6, when Kate & Sawyer were rescuing Karl, he was reading "A brief history of Time" ??

Im sure that has some meaning ??

It's definitely not just a random coincidence, it is definitely deliberate and has at least some meaning.

Actually, most scenes in Lost which contain books with titles that are legible on screen tend to be about topics like time travel, strange physics and other topics that fit with the general theme of the show.

If you're interested, this site http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/ has a lot of screen captures pointing out various easter eggs in each show.

I dunno about that, some of them do. But alot of them are just popular books. Off the top of my head Catch 22 and Of Mice and Men

Edit: thought of some of sawyers, lord of the flies and watership down.

Now, what I take from them is a rabbit reference. Watership down is obvious, The rabbit scene is a main scene in Of Mice & Men,
This also links the alice in wonderland theme, "looking glass" etc.
