Repairing hallway ceiling (damage from attic)

Were living in rented accomodation and whilst I was up in the attic I stumbled on a rafter and broke the plaster under the plasterboard. So from the hall the plaster on the roof is cracked but the board above it is ok. What's the easiest way to repair this? Can anyone recommend a product?
